May 10, 2008 Note: Second Saturday of the month. | TRACTION BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN
Eric Oszustowicz will narrate a slide presentation utilizing the vast collection of the late Joseph and Richard Braun, focusing on Cold War–era photos of tram systems behind the Iron Curtain. This presentation will begin in the Soviet Union with 1967 views of Moscow in Russia, and Kiev in the Ukraine. We then move on to the tramways of Sofia (1971–74); Bucharest (1967); Sarajevo and Dubrovnik (1966); Belgrade and Subotica (1971); Prague, Krakow, and Warsaw (1967); and finally Budapest (1967). If time permits, views of ex–Third Avenue Railways cars operating in Vienna, Austria, in regular passenger service will be shown. Joseph and Richard Braun spent many years recording history. Thankfully, their goodwill and generosity has now enabled us to witness their legacy. |

| June 7, 2008 | MBTA BUS OPERATIONS AND EQUIPMENT, ANOTHER LOOK Back in 1990, premier Boston-area bus enthusiast Bob Hussey delighted us all with a look back at MBTA bus operations in its earliest years. This time, Bob is back with a slightly more up-to-date photographic retrospective of the same subject, including some focus on the legacy still being created by the T’s ubiquitous fleet of RTS buses through their first 23 years of service. |

July 12, 2008 Note: Second Saturday of the month. | ANNUAL TRANSIT POTPOURRI
Back by popular demand in its familiar calendar slot, the Potpourri is BSRA’s ultimate member participation night of entertainment. Anything goes (slides, digitals, videos, even movies if anyone has them) provided that submissions are of reasonable length and have transit as their main subject. Participants are requested to bring their materials to the Entertainment Committee representative at the front desk prior to the business meeting to be queued; subjects will be shown in the order they are received. |

| August 2, 2008 | A COUPLE OF SHORTIES
In our first “double feature” for quite some time, Norman Fox will lead off with older Orange and Blue Line slides culled from his venerable personal collec¬tion that date from the 1980s. Donald Nevin holds up the second half of this show with a movie about the Indiana Railroad. |

| September 6, 2008 | EXPLORATIONS WITH MIKE PRESCOTT
The BSRA’s Publications Director plans a multiplicity of subjects — mostly digital photos, maybe slides and video as well — concentrating on transit in Boston and New York City, also including the Yellow Line in Chicago (formerly Skokie Swift), the Las Vegas monorail, the Ybor City Streetcar in Tampa, and the bus and monorail operations at Walt Disney World. |

| October 4, 2008 | ANNUAL MEETING & MEMBERS' NIGHT, YEAR 2
Given that October is our Annual Meeting, we decided to again seek out member participation on a specific subject. This year’s subject is the MBTA Blue Line, which in 2008 has new trains on the line and quite a glorious past. As with the Potpourri, anything goes, provided that submissions are of reasonable length; please come to the front desk prior to the business meeting to queue your material. |
