Roll Sign is a news magazine published by the Boston Street Railway Association six times per year. this illustrated magazine features articles of current and historical interest in New England transit activities. Each issue also features photographs of local transit scenes, many in color, submitted by our readers.
Subscription and Back Issues
All active members in good standing receive Roll Sign by mail for free. A separate subscription is also available (Learn More...). Individual issues are also available for purchase at the Seashore Trolley Museum in Maine and Charles Ro Model Railroad Supply in Malden, MA. Most back issues are also available for mail order directly from the BSRA (Learn More...).
Contribute to Roll Sign!
Members and subscribers are invited to contribute articles, photos, and news items describing the construction, operation, and activities of transportation companies in New England. Information regarding companies outside this area will be judged on its relevance with Roll Sign editorial policy and reader interest. Roll Sign correspondence should be sent to:

Photo Submission Guidelines
We are pleased to announce that we are now able to accept photo submisisons via email! In order for your photographs to be considered for publication in Roll Sign, please follow these brief guidelines:
We are always looking for high-quality, interesting photographs for Roll Sign. We can scan black and white or color photographs and edit them precisely for publication, or, if you prefer, you can submit unretouched and unedited digital photos as a JPEG or TIFF file at a minimum resolution of 350 DPI and at the size that you would like to see them reproduced. A greater resolution always helps, because it will permit us to enlarge the image without loss of quality. On the other hand, as long as the minimum resolution is 350 DPI, we can shrink the photo to fit in tight quarters if we need to do so.
You can email your photos and/or articles directly to us at rollsign@thebsra.org. Be sure to include a text file with a caption and credit for each image. We can also accept print photos and articles (or files on CD) via snail mail or in person at one of our monthly meetings.
